I grew up in a humble family in New York. We didn't have much, but I had an obsession with scent that no one around me quite understood. Scented candles were a luxury we never bought, so I made my own. I'd raid the kitchen pantry, mixing spices, filling rooms with something warm and intentional. Even then, I believed our spaces should feel like something.
I carried that belief through the corporate world, through building a life as a single mother of three, through every season that asked more of me than I thought I had. Scent was always there, not just as a hobby, but as a form of prayer. A way of saying: this moment matters. This space matters. I matter.
Before The Pure Essentials, there was Seeds to Hope, a nonprofit built on faith and biblical principles of entrepreneurship. Nonprofits need funding. Funding requires creativity. So I asked: what can I build with my hands, my faith, and the gifts I already have? The answer was this brand. Every candle sold is a seed planted.
Where it began
A nonprofit. A calling.
A candle.
Before The Pure Essentials, there was a vision for something bigger: a nonprofit built on faith and biblical principles of entrepreneurship, a place to give other founders the fair start that no one had given me. That became Seeds to Hope.
But nonprofits need funding. And funding requires creativity when you're starting from zero. So I asked myself, young, scrappy, and full of faith, what can I build with my hands, my faith, and the gifts I already have?
The answer was The Pure Essentials. A candle and fragrance oil brand, yes, but really a vehicle. Every product sold is a seed planted. A portion of every purchase goes directly to Seeds to Hope and the nonprofit partners we've found doing extraordinary work around the world, organizations that are living proof of what happens when communities are resourced, encouraged, and believed in.
When you light one of our candles or wear one of our oils, you are not just buying a beautiful thing. You are funding someone else's breakthrough.

We've since partnered with nonprofits making a real, tangible difference, organizations whose work inspires what Seeds to Hope is growing into. Every partnership reminds us why we started, and every candle sold keeps that mission funded and moving forward.
