The Pure Essentials makes clean candles and wearable fragrance oils in Pompano Beach, Florida. Every candle is 14 oz of soy-coconut wax on a wood wick, scented with phthalate-free oils. It burns 45 to 50 hours. No paraffin, ever.

I grew up in a humble family in New York. We didn't have much, but I had an obsession with scent that no one around me quite understood. Scented candles were a luxury we never bought, so I began making my own hand-poured candles. I'd raid the kitchen pantry, mixing spices, filling rooms with something warm and intentional. Even then, I believed our spaces should feel like something.
